A Monster’s Expedition is a lovely puzzle adventure for any monster who’s ever been curious about what those odd human things are all about.
Made by the same folks who created A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build, the game takes you on a journey of learning through an open world filled with log rolling puzzles. You’re a bit trapped on these tiny islands, but there’s places that are just narrow enough to cross if you could only get a log stuck between them. I suppose you COULD swim, but you’re a shaggy monster and drying yourself off would take ages. So, knocking down trees and rolling them into place is just a much easier idea.
Except, well, it’s not always going to be easy. Figuring out the right way to roll these logs into place is far from simple, but you are technically free to roam the world as you see fit. So, you can give up on puzzles for a bit if they;re frustrating you too much, or maybe it’d just be better to take your puzzle-solving self down a different path. Things are a bit more open for your monster to wander alongside you.
How does this teach you about humans? Well, A Monster’s Expedition is kind of an open-air museum of sorts, and there are lots of human exhibits scattered around the islands for you to enjoy. Some of the facts on them might not be entirely factual, but you’ll still get a pretty good idea about what humans are like from them. Even if all you derive from this information is that humans can be quite silly at times.
A Monster’s Expedition is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
