You need to get the rights taste down (or get helpfully bullied by Japanese mythological monsters) to return to human form in A Tofu Tail.
I don’t know what you did to upset a fox spirit, but you’ve been turned into a block of tofu and you’ll have to move yourself around carefully to break the spell. These fox spirits have set up a devious realm of platforms to roll your blocky form around, as each requires you have just the right consistency and taste before you can land on a platform. You would’t want to taste like flowers and just up and jump in the river, would you?
You need to move around these square platforms in just the right order to pick up necessary flavoring power-ups that alter your color. If you’re the right color just before you land on the next platform, it’s all good. On top of this, you need to pick up items that will appease the spirits you’re rolling towards, like bowls of water for kappas. You might also just need to blunder into them so they knock you to new platforms, if they’re temperamental creatures. Using all of these abilities, you should be able to return to normal.
A Tofu Tail is a ridiculous puzzler, what with its absurd concept and playful art style and music. It’s still no less of a brain-teaser, though, so expect a lot of challenge in getting your taste just right.
A Tofu Tail is available now on the developer’s site, itch.io, and Steam.
