Afternoon Spaghetti asks you to help a pal make something delicious for supper. It just needs one more ingredient, if you don’t mind grabbing it.
You head to a buddy’s house just in time for dinner. Well, just in time to HELP with dinner. Spaghetti is being boiled, but the sauce could use some cheese to get the flavor just right. You just have to go get the cheese. And the fridge is right beside you, so this shouldn’t be too hard, should it? Open door, get cheese, all done. Yet, when you open the door, there appears to be a dimensional gate that’s cleaving through the house all the way into a distant place. It’s not super far into another dimension, so you’re not put out that much. May as well walk in and get it.
I am not terribly helpful in the kitchen on the best of days, and that behavior continues in this game. I don’t think it’s really my fault, though, when the fridge leads to a student art gallery. I took a bit of time to take in the exhibits, looking over each one before finally ending up at the insides of the fridge and the cheese I was supposed to grab. I then meandered around the gallery some more to check out the remaining art (having sorta forgotten why I came here to begin with), then sauntered back to the kitchen to pass on the cheese. Thankfully, my friend wasn’t too mad that it took that long. They seemed alarmingly calm about the dimensional gate thing, too. But then they slammed me with something I should have seen coming.
Afternoon Spaghetti is a ridiculously elaborate setup for its final payoff, but it looks cute and offers a fun walk through some fun artwork. And I really appreciate it any time someone works absurdly hard for a small joke.
Afternoon Spaghetti is available now (for whatever you wish to pay for it) on itch.io.
