Why bother getting your hands dirty when you could toss a vial of explosive fire at an enemy (if you concoct the right mixture) in Alkimya: Memories of The Last Alchemist?
You’ve woken up confused and missing some memories, and of course, some jerk monsters want to mess with you while you’re in that state. What’s a gal to do? Well, you’re an alchemist, and you still remember a little bit about mixing potions that can have some devastating effects. A simple bottle of flames might be enough in some situations, but through putting some potions together, you can create handy new effects. Fire and air can make lightning if you need it, so you’re encouraged to play around and see what damaging things you can make.
That aforementioned lightning potion will work with a pool of water to shock everyone in the area, as the potions all behave in useful ways when they make contact with things in the environment. This isn’t just handy for enemy clearing, but also for solving puzzles and getting around. Ice floes make it easier to cross bodies of water, sometimes you might need to get some heavy objects out of the way, or maybe you can use that electricity to boot up a mechanism. You need to constantly think about what uses you can find for your concoctions.
I only got to see a bit of the game at PAX East, but Alkimya demonstrated several different potions you could use and how these carried a variety of purposes in the game world. It seems like players will be rewarded for being curious with their mixtures, so if you like to tinker with dangerous fluids just to see what happens, it might be worth keeping your eyes on this one.
Alkimya: Memories of The Last Alchemist is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can add it to your Steam Wishlist.
