Bot Rods is an adorable family-friendly racing game filled with cute machines, odd pilots, and silly tools you can use to meddle with your fellow racers.
These characters come in two types: adorable creatures and the racing bots that they drive. Looking to be a family friendly arcade racer, Bot Rods has no death at all, making it perfect for all ages. Instead, you are able to pick up various items that help you or hinder enemies, depending on what they are. The weapons that are featured are very quirky, going along well with the strange creatures and bots that you can control.
The game has a single player mode with AI to play with you, but it’s aim is to be a fun local multiplayer for the entire family to enjoy. Everything you see in the cartoon-esque trailer videos actually do appear in game, and I can see how this game would work as a very good TV show (which is apparently in the works). Its lighthearted style seems like it would loan itself well to a show, but right now appears to be a great fit for some lighthearted racing.
I got the chance to hear all about Bot Rods at the Big Indie Pitch Digital event where I really fell in love with the graphic style and concept. I look forward to seeing what else the game has in store and what will come of this TV show as well.
Bot Rods is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its creation on the game’s site.
