Chapeau has you acting as a hat with a vendetta, seeking to park itself on as many heads as possible by dashing and gliding through the air. Just try not to hit the ground.
You get to choose from an array of silly hats, then take to the air in parks and streets inspired by Austria’s city centers. You’re not just passively floating on the wind, though, but can aim and guide your path as you whirl through the air. If you get a bead on someone’s head, you can do a quick dash toward it, plopping down on them for a moment to increase your score and gain a little bit of momentum to rush toward the next open head.
This isn’t just a one-hat competition, though. Multiplayer opponents and AI headgear are all out to out-hat you (look, I had no idea what else to say). You can try to beat them to peoples’ heads by using dogs, jetpacks, and shields to block them, but expect them to do the same with you. You could get a bit of an edge if you choose the right hat, though, as while they may all look silly, they also have various properties that change up how they play. A top hat might seem like the best bet, but maybe a cute bonnet works better for you.
Chapeau comes with a variety of modes for you to try out if you’re finding your hat placement is getting stale, adding dangers to the map or by making your targets more elusive. Basically, there’s a lot of hat-placing fun to be had, here.
Chapeau is available now on the Nintendo Switch and Steam.
