Dandy Dungeon II: The Phantom Bride, a free sequel/update to a game that tickled us a lot, brings more puzzling dungeons and a naked Nobuo Uematsu. For some reason.
Yamada-kun is a middle-aged man seeking romance, and for whatever reason decides that making a game is the way to find it. Just roll with it. That said, you’ll have to work through said game, guiding yourself through dungeons and fighting monsters in order to make those touching connections with the woman he loves. Just make sure you touch every tile, smack every creature, and collect every treasure if you want to be the best at finding love.
This new, free update for the game offers a lot more challenging dungeons for potential lovers to go through, as well as a pile of new equipment for the courageous developer. More exciting to me is that the update offers even more music, all of which is delightfully silly and catchy. Onion Games excels at this kind of laid-back, absurd tone to its music that just cracks me up while listening to it, setting a fantastic mood for their titles. I can’t get enough of it, and this update offers a whole lot more.
While there’s a lot more game to Dandy Dungeon II: The Phantom Bride, there’s also some fun guest appearances from legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu and Touhou Project’s creator ZUN. For some reason, Uematsu is naked in it, which should give you a pretty good idea of the tone of this game. Anyway, if you want some solid roguelike puzzle/RPG play and some seriously silly times, you’ll get a whole lot for your purchase.
Dandy Dungeon II: The Phantom Bride is available now on the Nintendo Switch and Steam.
