A small-town driving instructor is working to save a man’s daughter from being used in a Satanic pact in the ridiculous, charming horror game EXTRA ORDINARY.
A washed-up rock star is looking to reignite his fame through making a deal with the devil, but he’s using someone else’s power to pull it off. Rose, the local driving instructor, has a touch of supernatural power as well, though, and aims to stymie the rocker’s plans. So long as you can collect whatever ectoplasm drips out of the young girl’s father, that is. Which is about as gross as it sounds.
The short game, which is based off of the movie of the same name, has you working your way through a house filled with poltergeists, grabbing ghosts in a dirty alley, and keeping exploding ghosts from making contact with the young, yet powerful, girl. If you can keep on the move, you’ll get to play the aforementioned mini game of catching slime as it dribbles out of the father’s mouth. Or nose. I’m not super clear on it and have no intention of looking closer.
EXTRA ORDINARY is quite silly compared to the developer’s previous work in the FAITH series, but their signature visual style only adds to the humor and horror of what we’re experiencing. It somehow manages to be both incredibly silly and just a bit sinister, showing an eerie knack for making things scary no matter what the developer is working on.
EXTRA ORDINARY is playable now on itch.io.
