Fire Escape will have you snooping through the windows at your neighbors, listening in on their lives as you try to unravel a murder from your apartment.
While most apartment complex neighbors simply seem to want to assemble furniture at 3am or play the bongos for eighteen hours straight, one of yours seems intent on killing folks. Which one is it, though? The ASMR YouTuber across the way? The cranky couple in the fancy apartment? Or is it someone else lurking with the curtains drawn, trying to hide their guilt? You’re free to snoop on all of them, watching their behavior and listening in to their conversations to figure it all out from the relative comfort of your home.
Playing out across three twenty minute episodes, the game gives you free reign on where to look and listen as all of this plays out in real time. If you’re to have any hope of figuring this all out, you’ll need to act quickly while not letting yourself get distracted by the guy next door watching porn way too loud (this doesn’t actually happen in the game, just in real life). Focus, now! At least as well as you can when someone’s kids wake up at like 5am and start running laps on the floor right above your bedroom.
Jokes aside, Fire Escape looks to offer a thrilling, high-stakes mystery that will have you rushing to find the right evidence across these varied homes. Given that it’s from the folks that wrote 1979 Revolution, I have zero doubt that its story will be absolutely riveting.
Fire Escape is available now on Steam.
