You’ve got a demon captured in a tiny habitat, but you don’t really know much about it. What does it like? What does it do? How will you learn more about it?
Harmless Demons wants you to explore your curiosity with this monstrous being, feeding it and caring for it as best you can. The only way to learn more about it is through experimenting with what you give to it, how you treat it, and what things you introduce into its environment. As you test more and more things, you’ll steadily come to understand this being and what it is.
How you behave as you come to this understanding is up to you. The developer has drawn inspiration from the curiosity that comes from bug observation boxes they received as a child, and with that comes the possibility for learning, but also cruelty. You can try to be nurturing and careful with how you learn about the demon, but you can also do nasty, horrible things to it in order to learn more as well. It’s up to you how you want to behave in your studies. Just keep in mind that the demon is looking to escape this predicament as you work.
Harmless Demons uses an interesting, if upsetting, concept to explore how we learn about things and beings we don’t understand, and will hopefully have something to say about the cruelty that can come from studies and science if not done with an attention to morality.
Harmless Demons is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can follow its creation on IndieDB.
