Huntdown takes you to a future straight out of every 80’s action movie and game, having you blast endless armed criminals and sinister hockey players.
Crime has overrun the streets. The people are scared. The cops are scared. You’re not scared, but everyone is unsure if they’re more scared of you than anyone else as you seem a little bit frightening. You play as one of three bounty hunters, all remorseless killers (not sure why they’re much better than the criminals?) that you can arm with machine guns, grenades, katanas, and whatever other weapons they feel like picking up.
Once thoroughly armed, you can take to the graffiti-soaked hideouts of the game’s various gangs, taking on armies of enemies all on your own. They’re equally armed as you, though, so expect to race past hails of bullets and billowing flames as you get rid of every single gang member. It’ll be hard to forget your run-ins with these folks, as you’ll be battling gangs of punks, motorcycle enthusiasts, martial artists, and even nasty hockey players. I’m definitely seeing shades of The Running Man with these folks.
Huntdown aims to offer some solid over-the-top action reminiscent of the bloody action movies and run n’ gun games of the 80’s, creating an experience that is absurd in its violence and destruction. Basically, if you miss old action arcade games, this should put a smile on your face.
Huntdown is available now on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games Store.
