I catch you allows you to play a detective cat in a world full of dogs who want to take your job, but few of them have your (literal) nose for crime-solving.
When it comes to detective games, I quite enjoy the journey and trying to figure out who committed the crime and how to prove it. When it comes to being a cat, I like knocking items off tables. This game allows me to do both! As a very clever cat detective, your job is currently threatened by a bunch of hounds who claim to have a better nose than you.
This is a common misconception – you are an amazing detective and have a perfect nose for finding crimes. Switching into your smell mode, you are able to click on characters and objects, and get their scents. These scents then open up more dialogues of conversation with the people you are interrogating, giving you a further look into what they have been doing and where they have been.
I got the chance to play I catch you at the Valencia Indie Summit, finding out that the crime involved the death of a dancer who seemed to have been in on some shady business. Because of this, I needed to really dig deep to figure out the depths of everything that happened. With your boss rushing you forward or threatening with replacement (a DOG!) you will need to be quick as you call people to your office, gather further physical evidence, and try to smell your way to the truth.
Once you have gathered enough information and spoken to enough suspects, you can connect the evidence to whoever did it and pin the crime on them. I also mentioned the pushing stuff off of your desk, which is really just a fun little aspect of the game, but you can knock your glass of water off of the desk – all while being told off by your secretary, which is pretty fun to do while waiting for the next person to come in.
I catch you is available for free on GameJolt.
