Most game heroes are content with stopping a single world-crushing force, but the ridiculous heroes of Lair of the Clockwork God need to stop a bunch of them all at once.
With all of this excessive doom coming about, Dan and Ben need to bring their varied abilities to bear to keep the world in a single habitable peace. Dan is more of a platforming kind of guy, able to wield weapons and leap through dangerous collections of traps. Ben is far better at puzzles, though, and can use items and logic (even if that logic is downright strange) to solve adventure game-style conundrums. With the pair’s abilities at work, you get a mixture of platformer and adventure game all in one package.
While the world is in several kinds of trouble, it’s not reason for you to get all gloomy about it. Things will get quite silly throughout your time in the game world (it’s hard for things to stay completely serious when you have somewhat-dangerous adventure game logic at work), as your main job is to teach a computer about feelings. Hopefully you can get it in touch with its sensitive side before you’re killed in every single way imaginable.
Lair of the Clockwork God aims to make you chuckle, think, and carefully hop through its world, keeping all manner of player busy and happy. Just try not to let the pressure of all of those apocalypses weigh you down so much that you don’t take time to appreciate the silliness of your journey.
Lair of the Clockwork God is available now on Steam.
