Lokko is a chaotic, colorful 3D platformer where you can create your own levels within the game, devising clever ways to trip up other players.
Lokko is essentially a runner-type game, where you move forward, jumping over platforms, avoiding traps and collecting coins. Except you can place all of those coins and traps. After all, for some, it’s just as much fun to create levels within a game as it is to play pre-made ones. When the idea of coding is stripped away and replaced with in-game level creation tools, the ease of creation is hard to pass up.
After creating your own blocky character and coloring in the various aspects of it, you can dive into the world. You can race against other players, getting to the top of leaderboards and sharing your levels that you have made with the community. These community-driven levels add to the thirty stages spread across the three chapters within the game.
I got the chance to check out Lokko during the Big Indie Pitch Digital event. I found that, although a lot of the levels look hectic, when you actually play Lokko, your focus is just on surviving and moving forward. You almost don’t notice any of what is going on as you scramble to survive. I also found that the the blocky style where you can create your own terrain and characters work well, especially with the painting aspect of customization. If you’re interested in level creation or the basics of designing your own levels, it is a game worth checking out!
An early build of Lokko is available now on itch.io.
