LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories reshapes the events, loves, and friendships in a handful of lives, doing so as you work through puzzles that alter pasts and futures.
You find yourself in a tenement building filled with varied people, each with their own stories and regrets to share. You can explore this building and interact with the folks within to get their full histories, but with so much sadness in their lives, you’ll likely want to do something to help them. This can be done through rotating the floors of the apartment complex, which shifts the tenants back and forth through time.
What events can you fiddle with in the past to make for a brighter future? What will you find if you go back? Will you possibly find that the person deserved to be in the situation they’re in, or that changing it might make things worse for everyone? Also, simply figuring out how to shuffle time back to the right space results in some puzzles that will keep you busy for a while. It’s not easy to figure out how to just change a lifetime, after all.
While you may be looking to alter the past to make the future better, LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories isn’t purely about making all the “right” decisions in a life to improve it. It aims to be an examination of the sore spots in our lives – a look at how we could have shown more empathy, or where we should have thought a bit harder before opening our mouths. Something I imagine we all could do with some time spent thinking on.
