A young boy and…a shadow monster in a cute hoodie? I don’t know what it is, but it’s adorable. Anyway, you need to work together to solve puzzles and find answers in LUNA The Shadow Dust.
A magical world could use some illumination, and it’s fallen to a boy and his tiny creature companion to help bring that light to it. To do this, you’ll need to climb an ancient tower at the edge of the world, figuring out its puzzles of darkness and light in order to move ever upwards. Many of its mechanisms have strange effects on the tower, though, so don’t expect straight answers on what you should do as you try to crack its conundrums.
The game’s puzzles are more than one person can handle, so it’s lucky that you’ve got a small monster looking to help you. You can switch between the two to give them separate directions, using both of their abilities to finish the varied challenges that await you. These challenging mechanisms might leave you puzzled for a little while, but the game’s stunning visual style will give you a lot of pleasant stuff to pore over as you try to figure out the answers you need. Each puzzle is self-contained to its own room, though, so at least backtracking won’t be involved when you’re stuck.
Neat puzzles that require two beings to solve them, as well as a whimsical, captivating hand-drawn art style, look to make LUNA The Shadow Dust a game that’s as much of a joy to watch as it is to play.
LUNA The Shadow Dust is available now on Steam.
