If you’re going to make a heroic escape from the horrible people who have you trapped away from your family, you’re going to want it to be televised, right?
Ministry of Broadcast follows a man who’s been cut off from his family due to “The Wall,” which has broken the country in two and is now what’s keeping our contestant from going home. Seeing that he cares for his family, he kind of wants to get back to them. In a bizarre twist, though, the regime is seemingly willing to let him go home if he completes a deadly game show that will televise his escape attempt. While this sounds like the worst of bad ideas, you don’t much have a choice.
As the folks at home watch, you’ll platform and solve puzzles in the crumbling environments, avoiding agents and the regime’s police. There’s an awful lot of ways to accidentally kill yourself or break your legs on this trek, so you’ll need to constantly examine your environment for problems or things you can use to ditch your pursuers. That said, there’s something a bit fishy about these events that might lead you to believe that you’re not going to be surviving this competition no matter what you do. Still, what else were you going to do today?
Ministry of Broadcast is a clever, ridiculous take on some rather grim subject matter, all while offering some interesting situations for you to puzzle through. Or die live on tv. The latter is probably better for ratings, honestly.
Ministry of Broadcast is available now on Utomik, GOG, and Steam.
