Corporate Salmon is a fun game to play once you get used to controlling a wriggling fish trying to move their way up an escalator.
You play as a business fish, dressed up in your lovely suit and tie, just looking to make your way to work. Flopping up the escalator is as easy as tapping, however, the escalator is always going downwards, meaning you’ll have to fight to keep flopping upwards. Coins fall down the stairs, which you can grab for a profit, but really your goal is to get up higher and higher.
Other fish are also flopping up and some are falling behind, just as you likely will. Profit lines mark how far you’ve gotten, and you can jump on them for bonuses. There are also quite a few power-ups that can be found to help you stay on the screen. Once you slip off, the game is over, and you’ll need to restart.
If you earn enough coins you can start unlocking new outfits for your fishy salaryperson. Dressing up as a giant pizza slice makes for a funny look.
I got the chance to take a look at Corporate Salmon at the #SuperWarehouse Indie Gaming Party on a little arcade machine. The game is very challenging with a ‘one more go’ feel. I really enjoyed my time with it.
Corporate Salmon is available now on Itch.io and the App Store.
