There are no random encounters or throwaway fights in Virgo Versus the Zodiac. Each has been specifically designed to push your tactics and powers to their limits.
You control Virgo, and she’s honestly not that nice of a person (despite all of these cute llamas hanging around). She’s looking to bring purity back to the Zodiac, carrying it back to a supposed Golden Age whether any of the other Zodiac characters want her to or not. These celestial beings aren’t taking her actions lightly, and while you’re technically the villain here, don’t expect to have a villain’s retinue of evil armies to back you up.
Since you’re handling so many dangerous beings on your own, you’ll need to make every single attack and battle count. Each of the game’s battles has been worked to push you hard, forcing you to learn enemy attacks, predict them, defend from them, and counter them appropriately. Part of this is in knowing what moves you should be doing, but you’ll also need to use timing-based button presses to improve your power and weaken your enemy. It’s part reflexes and part planning, but both need to be done well to win.
Virgo Versus the Zodiac, despite its sinister actions, can be quite cute and silly, offering all kinds of adorable animals and characters to meet, as well as a quirky array of foes to overcome. Just don’t let your guard down around anyone if you want to see your plans come to fruition. But since you;re the villain, is it really so bad if you fail?
Virgo Versus the Zodiac is available now Steam.
