Be prepared to die again and again and again in fast paced multiplayer pixel art game Samurai Gunn 2.
The city has been expanding, swallowing large parts of the world, while tons of gunpowder overdoses are ravaging the people within it. Spirits are creeping back into the land, causing chaos. With a band of strange characters – a princess, a golem, a samurai knight, and a homeless girl – you’ll have to see what is in store for Gunn City.
At GDC this year, Samurai Gunn 2 showed off its fast paced, four player versus mode. This allowed you and three of your friends to duke it out, and the first to 10 kills wins. Spawning back in just seconds in each time you die, the mayhem and challenge in the versus mode is truly an intense experience. Each player has a sword for close combat and a gun with limited ammo. Ammo and dashing are used from the same pot, so you only have a total of three uses for one or the other.
When it comes to the arena you are forced into, some have breakable bamboo, some are mainly floating rocks, and others are large open areas, forcing you to quickly chase your enemies. The controls in Samurai Gunn 2 feel wonderful, as you dash and slash through each arena, but I still failed to win more than a handful of times. You’ll need to pay attention to everything just to stay alive.
When the game is released, it will contain this versus mode, as well as an adventure mode where you play through with a friend, your sword, and your gun, hoping to change the fate of your city. There will be a lot of fighting through the medieval metropolis, forcing you to either run for your life or take on enemies to advance the story.
Samurai Gunn 2 is coming to PC and Nintendo Switch in 2019.
