Well, that zombie you just clobbered probably isn’t going to be using its head any time soon. May as well put it to use yourself and see what new abilities it gives you.
Skellboy revives a legendary hero, minus a lot of the skin and organs he was used to having. A wizard was trying to summon the dead in order to throw a big tantrum over being dumped by the princess, but our bony hero was accidentally called up as well. May as well make the most of it and try to double up on that legendary status. How many heroes get to save the kingdom AFTER they’ve died?
Being dead, our hero is not terribly fussy about the body parts they’ll be using to fight back against the evil forces that roam the land. An arm is an arm. Well, honestly, everyone’s body parts seem a little bit better than yours, what with their intact flesh and muscle and sinew and all that. Skellboy lets you snatch limbs, weapons, and heads off of fallen creatures, using them to bolster your powers and give you a bit more of an edge throughout the game. Somehow, enemies still seem to recognize you while you’re wearing a different head, though.
The game is, naturally, more than a bit ridiculous as you swap out body parts and work to beat back a wizard that really needs to grow up and accept that being dumped is probably the best thing the princess could have done for him. Why be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t love you? She did the guy a favor. Hopefully you can help him see that, even if you have to wear someone else’s severed head to do it.
Skellboy is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
