Cleaning out a den of deadly sentient goos would likely take good teamwork from several people, but Slimes has you struggling to control a party of people who hate each other.
Julius is on a crusade to clean out a dungeon filled with slimes. They’re weak on their own, but for whatever reason, no one’s ever been able to make it into a slime lair and eradicate their source. For whatever reason, Julius thinks that they will be able to do what no one else has, and heads deep into one of these slime homes. They’ve brought a little bit of help in the form of a healer, though, so surely a little teamwork between them will make things work.
Julius doesn’t even try to hide his contempt for the Healer, though (refusing to even learn the spellcaster’s name). They’re not keen on the ability to use magic, considering it more of a disease. If that’s the case, it’s kind of hard to accept a little restorative magics from them, right? And it’s not like the healer is going to be keen on helping someone who’s a jerk (for an example, see any MMO where someone is getting sassy with the healer). With dangerous slimes seeping from every surface, this will make for a difficult journey.
Slimes has an intriguing story behind its viscous enemies and the animosity between the characters, and that friction between them makes for some captivating action and narrative as well. It’s also kind of refreshing to see a group of RPG characters that aren’t super keen on hanging out with one another, honestly. Still, it can be awful hard to save the world when the person standing beside you wants to stab you in the back. Or face. I don’t think they’re terribly fussy about where.
Slimes is available now (for whatever you wish to pay for it) on itch.io.
