Strange Planet provides a very charming little exploration puzzle game where you need to help your friends out to explore further into an alien planet.
Made for the Sok-Stories Jam, Strange Planet is in created in the Sok-Stories engine, which allows users to make browser-based games without any coding. Most of these games tell stories just through the visuals within the game. Strange Planets puts you on a crashed spaceship that got caught up in a space tornado!
You’ll see each chapter as a single screen area of the planet. Creatures are present that can be clicked to understand what they’d like or if they want to interact with you. Objects can be combined and carried from area to area, then used to create new objects. One monster would like a turnip, while another will just give you a bomb.
Strange Planet doesn’t provide any hints or clues into what is going on beyond these small interactions with characters. This means that you’ll have to drag items around and figure out what you’re doing yourself. The game itself is very short, with just a few chapters to look through, but there is something so charming and relaxing about Strange Planet. Figuring out what you need to do to move on and exploring weird places makes for an enjoyable time being shipwrecked in space!
Strange Planet is available now on itch.io.
