Doris has passed away, finding herself in an (oddly bureaucratic) afterlife, and will have to wrangle with the oddities of being newly-dead as she looks for her husband.
The Tale of Doris and the Dragon follows Doris throughout the bizarre places that fill Purgatory, meeting all manner of people who’ve already passed on, as well as the bizarre beings who try to keep this dead world running properly. She’ll need have to put her sharp tongue to work on the locals to figure out where her husband has toddled off to, and all while dealing with the dangers that exist in this place. Can you become MORE dead than regular dead? You may find out.
Doris’ journey requires you to talk to the right folks and solve puzzles in the right way, all while wandering the office building-like Purgatory (is anyone surprised that Purgatory looks and feels like an office job?). Like office work, no one is all that helpful as you try to track down your husband, but Doris does have a gifted wit and a penchant to nag and be nasty if the need arises. It’s about time some of these pushy spirits got a stern talking to.
The first and second chapters of this episodic adventure are available now, letting you get to know several different characters and really settle into the experience of being dead. Between the two, there’s a lot of classic adventure game puzzle solving and granny attitude to go around.
