The rich hold the world in a stranglehold, controlling elections, media, and the police. Tonight We Riot aims to take that power back for everyone.
This is not a situation where a single hero can save the day. The rich hold sway over any and all means to stop you dead in your tracks. You’ll need to gather up a movement of workers and like-minded people to strike back at the walls of SWAT officers and other ludicrous forces the wealthy will throw at you. With a good-sized crew, you’ll be able to sic the entire crowd on anything that gets in your way, whittling it down as you bring more people to your cause.
To say that the game is a bit on-the nose for these days is putting it very lightly. A game where the rich have skewed the system so that it only benefits themselves, even as the world dies around them, cuts more than close right now. As such, you might just draw a little bit of satisfaction in taking to the streets with your group of workers and punishing the people who just don’t care about the plight of others. Besides, if you only care about your bottom line, destroying your expensive toys and weapons should at least get through to you.
Tonight We Riot feels like a mixture of Pikmin and a political call to action, creating a compelling experience that is quite cathartic given global events. Just be sure to keep your fellow rioters safe along the way.
Tonight We Riot is available now on the Nintendo Switch, itch.io, GOG, and Steam.
