Project AETHER: First Contact makes your enemies useful to you as they become damaged, allowing you to make them explode in a way that catches other ships in the blast.
Threats are coming from beyond the stars, and it’s just not in the budget to send more than one person to take care of it. So sorry, but you’ll have to take out a few hundred ships all on your own. You’ve got a bunch of neat guns to do it with, though! You get assault rifles, a laser gun that craves ships up, and a high-impact rail gun. That should keep you safe, right? You’ve got a sword, too, in case you feel like swatting down a ship that’s shooting at you. That sounds like a solid plan.
Well, if you’re going to make that face, FINE. You also get an EMP attack that you can use on weakened enemies. When these foes start to glow, you can use this to make them explode, but these explosions are SPECIAL. Unlike regular, boring explosions, these ones catch enemy ships in the blast, allowing you to take out several enemies at once if you hit them just right. And since a billion bullets are usually flying at you, a little chain reaction explosion that clears the screen would probably be nice.
Beyond that, you can dash around to slip through bullet arrays, which should make it harder for them to punch holes all through your mech body. Just do that across nine levels and you’ll have saved the galaxy! Until the next threat comes along, I guess. Space is a pretty dangerous place these days.
