Something has happened between you and your partner in We Should Talk.
Unsure of how to deal with it, you’ve headed to the bar. You end up having conversations with various people around you, all while texting your partner.
You seem to have started a new job and moved a bit further away. You now spend less time with your significant other, causing some mixed and rocky feelings. Not wanting to deal with it head on, you have headed to your favorite bar. In this bar, there are three different people you can talk to: the bartender who seems to be a good friend, a man you have never met before, and an old pal who’s back in town.
Once you pick someone to talk to, you will move towards their area of the bar. You will start talking to them, however, you won’t be picking dialogue lines. Instead, you will be moving the words in each speech bubble through a series of options, creating sentences that hopefully make sense. There is a variety of reactions that can be made with these various words. The dialogue system within We Should Talk is pretty neat and a main feature of the game.
After a bit of conversation, your phone will start buzzing. It’s Sam, your partner, who is looking for attention and help from you. They want to talk about your future as a couple, about their difficult new job, and about expectations within the relationship. Much like the speech bubbles before, you will be picking replies by constructing sentences.
Sam has a lot to tell you over the phone. Exploring what is going on can be tough, especially as you are only giving Sam attention between other people at the bar, but talking things out seems to at least help you.
